Reducing enteric methane production from buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) by garlic oil supplementation in in vitro rumen fermentation system

چکیده
Abstract Enteric methane production contributes significantly to the greenhouse gas emission globally. Although, buffaloes are integral part of livestock in Asian countries, contributing milk, meat and draft power, contribution enteric environmental pollution attracts attention. The present study investigated efficacy garlic ( Allium sativum ) oil reducing from Bubalus bubalis by vitro rumen fermentation. Garlic (GOL) was tested at four concentrations [0 (Control), 33.33 µl (GOL-1), 83.33 (GOL-2) 166.66 (GOL-3) per litre buffered fluid] 100-ml graduated glass syringes incubated 39℃ for 24 h fermentation study. Supplementation GOL-1 increased p < 0.05) total comparison with GOL-3; however, it remained comparable > control GOL-2. Graded doses inclusions reduced 0.001) concentration (%) (ml/g DM), irrespective concentrations. feed degradability, volatile fatty acids microbial biomass (MBP) were not affected GOL-1, but these tended decrease GOL-2 marked reduction 0.01) GOL-3. NH 3 –N fluid presence oil, concentration, suggests deamination inhibiting proteolytic bacterial population. activities ruminal fibrolytic enzymes (CMCase, xylanase, β-glucosidase, acetyl esterase) lower dose (GOL-1) oil; activity liquor evident higher (GOL-2 GOL-3) supplementation. This shows positive impact supplementation low (33.33 µl/l fluid) production, thereby, abatement without affecting digestibility.

The effect of UMMB supplementation on rumen micro ora was investigated in fteen healthy rumen stulated buffalo calves divided into three groups having ve animals in each. The animals of group I, II and III were kept on conventional diet, wheat straw alone and wheat straw supplemented with UMMB, respectively. Rumen liquor samples were collected at different time intervals for three consec...

Background: Artificial insemination is a valuable tool in genetic improvement programs and widely used breeding technique in farm animals. Semen processing and cryopreservation causes considerable damage to sperm DNA, motility apparatus, plasma membrane, acrosomal cap and thus, reduced fertility. Selenium is an integral part of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), an enzyme which protects cell inte...
متن کاملEffect of Sodium Nitrate and Nitrate Reducing Bacteria on In vitro Methane Production and Fermentation with Buffalo Rumen Liquor
Nitrate can serve as a terminal electron acceptor in place of carbon dioxide and inhibit methane emission in the rumen and nitrate reducing bacteria might help enhance the reduction of nitrate/nitrite, which depends on the type of feed offered to animals. In this study the effects of three levels of sodium nitrate (0, 5, 10 mM) on fermentation of three diets varying in their wheat straw to conc...
